Luke Bryan And Darius Rucker Perform John Mellencamp's 'Small Town'

Luke Bryan and Darius Rucker teamed up for a special performance during the Monday night (July 13) CMA Best of Fest special. The two country stars took on John Mellencamp's 1995 classic "Small Town" for an incredible, socially distanced duet.

Bryan and Rucker's collaboration took place inside a completely empty Nissan Stadium, the same stadium usually packed with over 50,000 country music fans during the annual CMA Festival. Due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, this year's event was canceled.

Robert Deaton, CMA Executive Producer, said Bryan and Rucker's performance reminded him never to take the festival for granted again. "It was a reminder of why we love music so much," he said. "It was dramatic seeing them in an empty stadium, but it's so, so great because they were playing music... and they were so happy."

Bryan and Rucker were clearly very excited to get back to singing live music again as they delivered an energetic performance. However, I'm sure they, like many of us, can't wait for the day the stadium is crowded with fans once again.

Check out the performance below.

Hosted by Bryan, the CMA Best of Fest television special featured performances from the last several years of the CMA Fest. Several standout moments came from country music singers Carrie Underwood, Keith Urban, Jason Aldean, Miranda Lambert and more.

At this time, the CMA Fest is set to return next year on June 10-13.
