Amy’s Awkward Update Around Travel Plans for Son’s State Track Meet

Amy is traveling to watch her son compete at the state track meet this weekend, and some of the guys think it could be a situation for rekindling.

Some of the guys teased her about riding three hours in the car with her ex-husband, joking that the trip could lead to the former couple falling back in love. Despite their jokes, it seems things took an unexpected turn after Amy had originally shared their plans of them riding together. She explained that the original plan was to ride together because it seemed practical. Both parents were attending the event for their son, and Amy said sharing a car would save gas and make sense logistically. However, her ex-husband had recently texted her and suggested it would be better if they drove separately instead. The update caused all kinds of reactions in the studio, Amy believed the decision was made because riding together could potentially feel confusing for their son.

Amy added that she had even offered to sit quietly in the back seat working on her computer during the drive, but the separate travel plans remained in place. The guys still thought it was a possibility that Amy and her ex-husband reconnected during the long road trip together. Amy dismissed the idea and pointed out that her ex-husband is currently in a serious relationship. She likes his girlfriend and described her as “really nice.” Amy also admitted that previous relationships her ex-husband had been in sometimes felt awkward, but his current relationship has been different and more comfortable for everyone involved. During the discussion, Amy admitted she briefly wondered if her ex-husband might fly to the event instead of driving since he is a pilot and has flown himself to events before. She joked that after the decision to drive separately, she now doubted she would even be invited if he decided to fly.

When asked whether her feelings were hurt by the change in plans, Amy understood his perspective. She admitted that her text response back to him was simply, “Okay,” followed by a period. Amy is still attending the state meet, but it will be by herself.
