Two years after the deadliest mass shooting in modern American history, UMC will honor those affected by the tragic Route 91 Harvest festival shooting by empowering community members to save lives. On October 1, 2019, UMC will host a largescale blood drive alongside Vitalant, in addition to an in-depth “Stop the Bleed” class to provide attendees with the skills needed to stop life-threatening bleeding in the event of an emergency.
At 11 a.m. on October 1, 2019, UMC will host the 1 October Memorial “Stop the Bleed” Class, providing in-depth training from the hospital’s world-class team of medical professionals. The class is open to all community members, although space is limited. UMC is asking for the media’s help to promote the class prior to October 1 to encourage the public’s participation in this important education. Since introducing UMC’s “Stop the Bleed” Program in the summer of 2017, the hospital has trained approximately 11,000 community members. As part of the national “Stop the Bleed” Campaign, UMC Trauma surgeons, nurses and other medical professionals offer complimentary “Stop the Bleed” training courses for local organizations and community members.
