Over the summer, Samantha Whiting was vacationing on the beach in Monterey, California, when her 10-year-old daughter, Hayley, was pulled under the water by a strong rip current.
A stranger, Kevin Cozzi, was also there -- at the right place and at the right time -- and was able to rescue Hayley from the powerful waves.
Well, Samantha tracked Kevin down and learned that he was getting married.
As a gesture of thanks and appreciation for the heroic action that Kevin took those months back, Samantha is now raising money for Kevin’s wedding.
She started a GoFundMe page to help out with the cost of the wedding -- and maybe even a honeymoon.
The page is titled “A Hero Named Kevin" and has already raised more than $20,000. Samantha and Hayley continue to raise money for Kevin -- and also plan to see him again in person next fall when they attend the wedding.
