Oakland A's Reconsidering Other Las Vegas Locations Again

Three weeks after confirming a “binding agreement” on a 49-acre site west of the strip for the $1.5 billion ballpark, the Oakland A's are reconsidering the backup plans.

According to the Nevada Independent, the team has reached out to owners of Southern Nevada sites should they fail to secure legislative support for the proposed $500 million tax package.

Sources say A’s still focused on acquiring former Wild West Casino site at Tropicana & Dean Martin, but reached back out to the Rio on their 22 acre site offered for $1. The A's previously rejected, concerned about traffic access and the idea of the pedestrian bridge to cross over to the strip.

The team is running out of time to get legislative approval for tax package.

They have also returned attention to 34 acre Tropicana location, which is a more complicated process.

One location remains off the table, the Las Vegas Festival Grounds. The reason being, too many issues the owner Phil Ruffin couldn’t agree to. Based on the property's current ability to bring in revenue, it would be a bad business decision for him.

We will keep you updated with the latest on the A's potential move to Las Vegas.
