Faith Evans dropped a single from her upcoming joint album with Biggie, The King & I, and it delivers a twist on one of The Notorious B.I.G.'s infamous tracks.
The new song is entitled "Ten Wife Commandments" and it's a new take on the late MC's "Ten Crack Commandments." This is the first released song from Evans' new album that features Biggie. Previously released songs from the upcoming project, “When We Party” and “NYC,” featured Snoop Dogg and Jadakiss.
In a statement posted on Pitchfork, the singer spoke about this new track. Read her comments about it below:
“Ten Wife Commandments” was the first song I started recording for The King & I. Excited and optimistic about the new deal & the opportunity to bring my idea to life, I started looking for Big’s acapellas on YouTube while in Detroit rehearsing with my band. With 'Ten Crack Commandments' being one of the songs I had always wanted to redo, I found it and got to work! It took a few different sessions to get the commandments to be meaningful and clever, but I do feel these are points that both men and women can appreciate."
The King & I is set to be released on May 19. Listen to "Ten Wife Commandments" here.
