Netflix Cracking Down On Password Sharing, Here's What To Look Out For

I may or not be guilty of Netflix password sharing. But hey, about one third of Netflix users do it, mainly because they can. Netflix has never really made a big stink about password sharing. But a new test reveals that the company may be reconsidering.

They are trying out a new policy with some select customers where they prompt them to sign up for a separate account if they aren't watching with the subscriber.

The message reads: “If you don’t live with the owner of this account, you need your own account to keep watching.” T

Apparently they've try hundreds of tests every year. But now that there is so much streaming competition, Netflix may be cracking down.

Netflix said in a statement “This test is designed to help ensure that people using Netflix accounts are authorized to do so.”

Time will tell whether this leads to a larger crackdown on password sharing.

Have you seen this message on your account? If so, will it make you sign up for your own account? I'm guessing not, but it will be interesting to see how Americans react to it.
