Disneyland Is Reopening The Magic Kingdom, But One Catch

On March 13, 2020 I was at Disneyland with my kids enjoying a rain soaked final day at Disneyland before they closed for, what we thought, was going to be a few weeks. Little did we know, that closure would last for over a year.

Well here we are, one year later. And I'm beyond excited to report that Disneyland is finally reopening!

Disney CEO Bob Chapek announced Wednesday morning that the resort will reopen, with a few stipulations. There will be limited capacity, per state guidelines. Visitors will be required to use a new reservation system to enter in addition to tickets. And then there's the big catch, only California residents will be allowed to visit the parks.

Now, that's just phase one. There will be more phases, as restrictions ease up. Disney's Grand Californian Hotel & Spa reopens April 29th, again with limited capacity. Paradise Pier Hotel and the Disneyland hotel will stay closed for now.

Hey, it's a start. I imagine by summer, we will be able to make the road trip and experience the park.

But for now, we wait...
