This Friday’s partial lunar eclipse will be the longest eclipse of the century. A full moon and lunar eclipse will take place at the same time and instead of being about an hour-long, this one will be three and a half hours.
The long lunar eclipse is the longest in the past 580 years according to Holcomb Observatory. With the moon being farther away from the Earth it will take longer to pass through Earth’s shadow.
