Words are hard. Some are easier than others, but these are the ones that were harder than most this year.
Cheugy [[ choog-ee ]], meaning untrendy or behind-the-times, and Billie Eilish's last name. Yes, really.
Those are two of the most mispronounced words of 2021 according to Babbel and the U.S. Captioning Company.
Babbel, a language learning company, commissioned the report from the captioning provider based on words newscasters had difficulty with. Also on the list, Chipotle [[ Chih-POHT-lay ]], dogecoin [[ DOHJ-coin ]] and of course, omicron [[ ah-mi-cron ]].
I get those last two, but Chipotle isn't really that hard...is it?
