As the first and only magician ever to win NBC’s America’s Got Talent, Mat Franco takes an innovative approach to magic-making that’s driven by pure joy. Almost entirely self-taught, the 28-year-old Rhode Island native began developing his own shows before the age of ten and took the stage at the Riviera Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas by the time he was 15. With an improvisation-fueled and humor-laced performance style partly honed through his years as a hugely in-demand college act, Franco is now currently headlining his own show, Magic Reinvented Nightly, at the LINQ Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas that offers both boundless fun and a stunning sense of thrill and wonder.
Here's me & my 90-year-old Grammy Mary with our pre-show drinks! I had a Tito's soda & she had a (virgin) Pina Colada! Delicious! We're ready now!
The Magic was SO close ... I was covered in cards!
America's Got Talent is one of my FAVORITE shows to watch because of the varying kinds of acts! Mat Franco had me captivated by DAY ONE ... and I was so glad he won the whole thing! So well deserved. Plus, he's not too bad to look at, either. ;-)
Instead of me sharing all my thoughts, I asked my family to send me theirs after our experience at The Linq with Mat Franco's MAGIC - REINVENTED NIGHTLY!
My Mom & Dad flew all the way in from Scotland, picked up my 90-year-old Grammy & Grampy in Arizona and drove the seven hours to join me in Vegas. Here are some of their remarks:
GRAMMY MARY SAYS:
The best magician show we've ever seen. We've seen lots of magicians throughout the years. The bottles of liquor was hard to imagine where they came from. Cant have that many in one box. Quite a few things that were very good there.
He had your full attention throughout all of the program. On the edge of your seat. I don't know how he got those cards up on the air ... we were so close we don't know how he got them so far up in the air.
GRAMPY JOE SAYS:
At age 90 I've seen many, many magicians but none quite amazing & mind-boggling as Mat was. Wasn't just his magic ... he had such a personality of being one with the audience, that you felt like you were on the stage with him and not just in the audience.
As far as having a favorite they were all so good ... I'm not able to pick a given one.
DAD KEVIN SAYS:
It was an outstanding show! I enjoyed the humor and audience participation. I find it incredible we can sit so close and have no clue how the trick was done. My favorite trick was the cellphone trick because how could he possibly gotten the phone into the (shhhhh, can't give that away!) /// you'll have to go & see for yourself!
MORE FROM GRAMPY:
Lots of things can be done with slight of hand, but how in the hell did he get off the stage and get his body intact into the audience.
When asked for one-word descriptive words, my family all said:
- Amazed
- Dumbfounded
- Entranced
- Unbelievable
- Very entertaining
- Mind blowing
- Holy sh*t!
- Get out!
- No! (I kept saying NO! NO! NOOOOO WAY!! the entire night! - LL)
A few more thoughts:
How'd he do that!
Time flew by.
Didn't want to say goodbye to Mat.
Thought he was amazing on TV. Wait until you see him in person.
Saw many families of three generations such as ours. It really is the PERFECT show for the entire family. Easy to park, easy to find, and absolutely captivating ... every.single.second.
We give it TWELVE THUMBS UP!
