In the Feels: Bride Is Making Others Wedding Day Experience A Little Easier

We are always hearing about selfish brides, so it’s rather refreshing to hear about a selfless one, and that’s definitely the case with this Minneapolis woman.

Tina Nguyengot married last year in her dream dress, and now she’s hoping to do the same for other brides. Last week she offered to loan her $2,000 Paloma Blanca gown to other brides via a post on Facebook Marketplace.

"I absolutely loved my wedding dress, it was one of the best parts of being a bride,” she wrote in her ad. “If you are planning your wedding, or know someone who is, and can not afford a wedding dress, please connect with me. I’ll lend my dress for the bride for her big day.”

Tina says she decided to offer up her dress because she wanted to “just do something,” especially with so many brides having to navigate planning a wedding during a pandemic. As she noticed a bunch of her friends going through the stress she thought, “I have a pretty sweet wedding dress just sitting in my closet."

Tina getting her dress was actually the result of the kindness from an American family who had “adopted” her after she graduated from Augsburg University. It was actually too expensive for her to buy but they helped her pay for the gown, so now she's paying it forward.

Tina titled her Facebook ad “The sisterhood of the traveling wedding dress” and so far “several” brides have contacted her about the offer. "I just want to offer it up and just, you know, share the joy," she said. "It made me feel like a bride. I wanted that for all other brides out there, especially during this time, I want that for them."

  • And that’s not all. She’s also set up another Facebook page for other brides who may want to loan out their dress to other brides. “This group is for anyone who also wants to offer their wedding dress up for upcoming brides and spread the love!” she explained. “Please feel free to post their dresses that you are offering here with your link to the facebook marketplace or any other social media sites you use to spread the love.”
