While on a fishing trip with his father, Omar El Oud [Ood] found a large white bird in the middle of the water. As Omar and his dad got closer, they realized it was a stranded pelican in serious need of help.
They took the pelican in, nursed him back to full health -- and named him Ovi.
Well, Ovi chose to not fly away. Instead, Ovi hangs around the seaside restaurant, owned by Omar’s father. Everyone in the community takes care of Ovi, who enjoys a snack several times a day.
And, Ovihas become something of a mascot for the restaurant.
