In the Feels: Hundreds of Dogs and Cats Airlifted From Hawaii

Because the coronavirus has affected animal shelters in Hawaii in such a big way, some charity groups took on the challenge of airlifting 600 dogs and cats out of Hawaii -- and delivering them to new homes on the mainland.

The mission was called “Paws Across the Pacific” and involved a chartered Hercules C-130 plane which flew across the Hawaiian Islands, picking up dogs and cats from overcrowded shelters on Kauai, Oahu and Maui.

That plane landed in Seattle, where it was met by volunteers from rescue groups across Washington state, Oregon, Idaho and Montana.

The amazing journey is believed to be the largest animal rescue flight in history.
