Internet Has Mixed Feelings Over Travelers Confessions

It’s normal for people to swipe those little shampoo, conditioner and lotion bottles from hotel bathrooms. Heck, it’s even expected. But it turns out a lot of people have found ways to take other hotel items, and the Internet is not at all down with it.

The subject came up when someone shared their tip for stealing stuff from hotels on the Reddit thread called “S****y Pro Life Tips.” The person wrote, “Pack a cheap pillow when staying at a classy hotel. Before checking out, open the pillowcase and swap their high end pillow with your cheap pillow and sleep like a baby at home."

That tip prompted some major feedback, with some calling it genius, and others calling it gross. "Who tf wants to take anything from a hotel room back with them,” one person noted, while another added, "Why are you people stealing hotel pillows?! Just buy your own! NEW and CLEAN."

But someone who works at a hotel noted it won’t be that easy to get away with it. “Any one of our housekeeping staff would be able to spot a false pillow immediately because they make hundreds of beds a week and the feel would be different,” they wrote, “If we ever found someone doing this they would be charged a super premium price, hundreds of dollars for a pillow charged to the card on file."

  • The post did prompt others to share items they've taken from hotels.
    • “I have a pretty large collection of nice hotel robes,” one person shared. "Take one of the robes put it into your bag. Then call down to the front desk and claim there was only 1 robe in your room. Boom free robe.”
    • While another added, "If the hotel has nice towels, my wife and I usually take two or three home."
