Kimberly Williams-Paisley said âone of the kindest thingsâ her husband, country star Brad Paisley, did for her was get her a megaphone.
Williams-Paisley shared new details about the two years she endured that she was barely able to speak above a soft whisper. The actress was on stage at an Alzheimerâs event in 2022 in Nashville, Tennessee, when she realized she was unable to speak. She said in a new interview with PEOPLE shared on Wednesday (December 18) that it was a âterrifyingâ moment.
âThis was a very isolating experience,â Williams-Paisley said. âI am just so grateful that I had Brad and the boys [sons Huck, 17, and Jasper, 15] with me through this because they saw me at my most vulnerable and my weakest moments, and to see them embracing me, and helping me, and grieving with me, made me feel less alone and was really helpful for the journey.
âOne of the kindest things Brad did for me was he got me a megaphone,â she said with a laugh. âAnd it was really hilarious and so necessary. Heâs so good atâŚkeeping me laughing, and that was really a gift. It was exactly what I needed. It was this big pink megaphone, and I started using it immediately because I have teenagers and I couldnât call them upstairs to say, âyouâre late for school.â So I got the megaphone there and it really came in handy.â
Paisley shared a clip from the interview on his Instagram story on Wednesday afternoon, spotlighting his comment: âShe got her voice back! I just donât know why sheâs still using the megaphone.â
Williams-Paisley opened up about feeling âinvisible,â and âtrapped in my own bodyâ for two years. She said she âhad to fight to be heard,â but now, after undergoing surgery, she feels âempoweredâ and âmore confident than ever.â
