Morgan Wallen's Rejected Bar Sign Gets Approved On Second Council Vote

The sign for Morgan Wallen’s bar that was initially rejected has finally received approval.

Metro Nashville Council members approved the 20-foot sign on Tuesday (December 17) after initially voting it down several months ago. Thirty officials voted against the resolution to approve the “aerial encroachment” at that time. That Metro Council vote took place on May 21. Three council members voted in favor, and four abstained. Some cited Wallen’s past controversial behavior, including “hateful” comments and “harmful” actions, such as his arrest for throwing a chair from a rooftop bar in April. Wallen pleaded guilty to misdemeanor charges in connection with that case and received his sentence on December 12. This time, the vote was in favor 30-1. Six council members abstained from voting.

Wallen opened This Bar & Tennessee Kitchen shortly after the initial council vote earlier this year, despite the rejection of the venue’s sign. The bar is located at 107 4th Avenue North. Wallen is one of several artists to open a bar in Downtown Nashville, Tennessee, along with Jason Aldean, Blake Shelton, Luke Combs, Lainey Wilson, Miranda Lambert, Luke Bryan, Dierks Bentley and others.

“I sing about finding myself in 'this bar' and now it's coming to life. This venue will hold true to everything I love and is inspired by my fans and the way they have embraced me and my music,” Wallen previously said in a statement. “We're designing a menu around some of my family favorites, so it brings a piece of East Tennessee to Music City. I hope This Bar is a place you'll want to find yourself in and make memories with your friends and family and celebrate the way country music has brought us all together.”
