Meet Napoleon! This handsome boy is 8 years old. Even though he has a tendency - typical of his breed - to want to finish the food out of the other dogs’ dishes during mealtimes, he listens when he is told no and to stay. He is a very smart dog, and shows he wants to learn and please his owner by making eye contact and listening. He is off to a great start with his foster mom, learning new commands and behaviors.
Napoleon knows how to sit and come. He is making quick progress to “stay” while waiting calmly; he just needs someone to keep practicing with him. The staff reported he was overweight when he first came to foster, but he has been responding well to eating healthy and going on walks. He is active, playful, and wonderful on a leash! He is mostly nonreactive to other dogs when walking on a leash. He likes to snuggle with his foster sister, who is a calm, senior Pit mix. He really wants to play with the other little doggies he meets.
Sometimes his energy comes off a little strong at first, but he calms down when gently reminded. He has been through some understandable stress since his owner passed and he's been in boarding, but he opens up more every day and shows what a loyal, loving boy he is.
